Pottery painting is a lovely mindful activity to share with friends / family or have some quiet time away from devices. Come get creative and make some keepsakes to treasure forever. We are completely mobile so can bring everything to you and have recently visited Brownies, Guides, the W.I, retirement villages, care homes and day care services. Glaze Time is paint your own pottery - we provide all of the materials for you to decorate the pottery and advice if you would like it. If you would like assistance with writing or finishing your item(s) please ask – there will be a small charge per item.
We offer regular Harpenden sessions at the following venues:

Our pub sessions are drop in's but we would recommended booking a table (especially if rain is forecast or during school holidays as it gets busy).
There's a misconception that pottery painting is expensive - please bear in mind that the prices include the pottery, paints (glazes), clear glaze, kiln firing (between 8-10 hours of electricity), brushes, service with a smile and you have a practical & lovely item (individually wrapped & bagged) to keep forever. Our pottery items range from £8-35 each. We do kindly ask that you support the pubs by buying a drink, when at any of our pub sessions, as they give the space for free so we do not have to pass on a studio fee. Thanks :)
Finished items are usually ready within 14 days. If you need something sooner please talk this over with Michelle and she'll try her best to help.

We are now running pottery painting evening sessions once a quarter, and the next one is Friday 11th September 8-10pm in the function room at the Plough & Harrow, Southdown Road. Harpenden. Ticket prices include: dinner plate (£30), star plate (£35), trinket box (£25), jug (£35), vase (£25) or perhaps a day of the dead skull (£25). If you'd like to paint something else please ask Michelle, if we can accommodate your request we will try our best!
To book your ticket please email michelle@glazetime.co.uk with your name, chosen pottery item and mobile number. The ticket price includes your pottery, glass of prosecco (or a soft drink), instructions and all glazing (painting) materials. Items will be available 14 days later unless requested sooner.
We hope you'll come along with friends to catch up, have a laugh and make memories. We have a special on the night offer of £15 a bottle on prosecco, so maybe leave the car at home :)
We are also running a Sip n Paint evening on Thursday 13th August 730-930pm at The Strathmore Arms, St Paul's Walden. The £30 ticket price includes you pottery, a glass of prosecco (or soft drink), instructions, all materials and a cheese sharing board.

More flexible sessions are now available at The Cabin in Southdown, Harpenden. We have space for up to 8 painters at a time (10 at a push); whether it's for a group of new mums, dads wanting to spend some creative time with their children, a night in with friends (with b.y.o), a hen party, creative afternoon tea, teambuilding with work colleagues... the options are endless.
Please get in touch with Michelle to discuss your requirements. There is street parking and room for pushchairs. Feel free to bring your own drinks, snacks and toys.
We can also host pottery painting birthday parties here (up to 8 painters, 10 at a squeeze).
There is not room unfortunately to hold the food part of a party.

Bennet's Parent & Toddler Morning
This is a free toddler group in the large function room, which runs every Monday 9am-12pm, the venue just kindly ask you to show them support by buying a drink. There is lots of space for prams, pushchairs and little ones to let off steam (there is a safe area for little ones ie under 1yr, too). We will be there on Monday 24th Aug, 14th Sept, 12th Oct & 16th Nov from 930am-1130am. Seats are available on a first come first served basis. Takeaway kits
If you would prefer to paint pottery in the comfort of your own home, why not book a takeaway kit. Perhaps you could make a family keep sake, use for an art lesson, make personalised gifts, an end of year teacher’s thank you gift, a hen party or simply have some painting therapy.
For a £15 deposit, each kit includes:
- your choice of 6 paint colours (glazes). Additional colours charged on a pro rata basis
- 8 x paint brushes of various sizes
- 1 x tile (to dispense your paint onto)
- 1 x sponge (to clean your pottery and perhaps use to decorate it)
- 1 x felt tip (to plan your design or add detail / writing, which can be made permanent once returned)
- an instructions sheet.
We can of course tailor a kit to your requirements - we will need 48hrs to have everything ready for you - and adjust the deposit on a pro rata basis.
Items can be collected from The Cabin, Southdown. There is a minimum pottery order of £15 (items + £15 deposit per kit) and full payment is required in advance by bank transfer.
Items usually take 10 days to be ready, once returned, and the deposit is refunded with the fired items (assuming everything is returned).
We also offer birthday parties (from £18pp), home visits (min. spend applies), team building, groups, commissions, gift vouchers & clay impressions.
Christmas decorations, are always in stock but we will only take to sessions from 5th October onwards. Please get in touch before coming to a session to pre-order decs, to avoid disappointment. We have 4" baubles, 3" baubles, tree plates, star plates and a selection of hanging tree decorations that children (& adults love to paint) - these include Christmas pudding, tree, sock, bell, robin, stocking, Father Christmas & flat bauble.
This year the last date for Christmas orders will be 20th November.
